Receipt Scanning

Open the app and tap the camera button at the bottom of the screen. Point your phone's camera at a supermarket receipt and hold it steady. The app will automatically extract the items, prices, and totals in a few seconds. Once it's complete, you can review, edit, or save the receipt.

Supermonster works with receipts from all major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl, Co-op, and more. The app uses AI to read receipts from any UK store, even smaller independent retailers.

Yes. The app lets you review every item before saving. If an item or price is incorrect, just tap it to edit. You can also add items, delete items, or change quantities directly in the receipt view.

Free users: Up to 4 scans per calendar month. Pro subscribers: Unlimited scans. You can upgrade to Pro anytime in the app's Settings.

The initial receipt scanning happens on your device, but some features require an internet connection. We recommend scanning receipts when connected to WiFi or mobile data for the best experience.

Household Sharing

In Settings, tap "Household" and then "Invite a member." You'll get a unique code. Share this code with your partner via text, email, or however you prefer. They'll enter the code in their app, and you'll be linked immediately. Once linked, you'll both see shared budgets, spending totals, and shopping lists.

You can see the combined household spending and which items were bought, but Supermonster doesn't track which household member scanned each receipt. It's all about the household's total spending, not individual spending.

Shopping lists sync in real time between household members. One person adds an item, and it appears instantly on everyone's list. When you check an item off, the rest of the household sees it marked complete immediately. Perfect for staying coordinated at the supermarket.

Yes. Go to Settings > Household and tap the "Remove" button next to the member's name. You can also leave a household from the same menu. Once removed, you won't share budgets or shopping lists anymore, but your previous receipt data remains in your account.

Subscription & Billing

Free Plan: 4 receipt scans per month, basic spending insights, household sharing, shopping lists. Pro Plan: Unlimited scans, advanced price tracking, data export (coming soon), and priority support. Most households don't need Pro, but it's perfect if you shop frequently or want unlimited tracking.

In the app, go to Settings > Upgrade to Pro. You'll see the current price (usually a monthly or annual option). Tap the plan you want, and the App Store will handle the payment. You can manage your subscription in your device's Settings > Subscriptions.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. Find Supermonster and tap "Manage Subscription." Select "Cancel Subscription." You'll remain on Pro until the end of your current billing period, then revert to the free plan.

No. Pro is per account. If one partner has Pro, they can scan unlimited times on their phone. The other partner will still be limited to 4 scans per month. You can share a household either way.

Refunds are handled by the App Store, not directly by us. If you're unhappy within 14 days of purchase, contact us and we can help you with an App Store refund request.

Account & Data

In the app, go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm. Once deleted, all your personal data (email, receipts, budgets) will be permanently removed within 30 days. This action cannot be undone, so make sure you want to do this.

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption. We use Google Firebase for secure storage, and your receipt images are processed on your device — they're never sent to our servers. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Yes. Pro subscribers can export their data in a portable format through Settings > Export Data. This feature is coming to free users soon. You have the right to download your data anytime under UK GDPR.

Yes. Go to Settings > Sign Out, then you'll be taken back to the login screen. You can then sign in with a different email or Apple ID. Your old account's data remains and can be accessed by signing back in.

If you're signing in with an email and password, tap "Forgot password?" on the login screen. We'll send you a password reset link via email. If you signed in with Apple, just use "Sign in with Apple" and your phone will authenticate you.
